Vintage Embroidered Dress - Brown China

Flared dress in mottled brown cotton and Flex. Made in a thick fabric as befits winter. On the front, lines of smocking that suggest a yoke are separated in the middle by a flat panel embroidered with a white flower with a shiny heart. The gathers created by the smocks give the dress its fullness. The pointed collar, extended by a small frill, surrounds the round neckline and stops on either side of the flatwork, clearing the throat. A wide gathered flounce finishes the bottom of the dress, while the sleeves are tightened by a narrow buttoned cuff and adorned with a white gribiche stitch.
In the back, the yoke supports the gathers of the panel. It opens to the full height and closes with natural mother-of-pearl buttons.
The smocks and flower are hand-embroidered by artisans.
